Une voix qui a du vécu...
Le critique Daniel Durchholz a décrit la voix de Tom Waits comme si elle avait été mariné dans un baril de bourbon, laissée au fumoir pendant plusieurs mois, puis écrasée par une voiture...("like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car.")
